Political – Mentality Change

In his quest to achieve his mission and vision of Mentality Change, Hon. Okonkwo contested as a lawmaker in Imo State House of Assembly having won the primary election during the 2019 Nigeria general elections. In appreciation of Hon. Okonkwo’s ingenuity and passion for change, the current Governor of Imo State Nigeria Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma appointed Hon. Okonkwo Anthony Ikechukwu as a Board Member in charge of 544 Primary Healthcare Centers of 12 Local Governments of Orlu Zone in Imo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ISPHCDA) on the 6th of October 2020.

Having conducted the need assessment in all the 544 Primary Healthcare Centers, Hon. Okonkwo found out that most of these Healthcare Centers are not functional. This has adverse effects on the lives of most citizens especially children and their mothers. Sequel to this, Hon. Okonkwo resolved to make all these 544 Primary Healthcare Centers functional. With proactiveness, Hon. Okonkwo raised the structural and service delivery of all the 544 health care centers in Imo state to a near civilized condition.

Based on his dedication and performance, the governor of Imo state, Dist. Senator Hope Uzodimma elevated Hon. Okonkwo to be a member of the State Executive Council (SEC). He made him to be in-charge of a brand new ministry called Ministry for Public Orientation and Religious Affairs (MIPORA) on the 5th October 2022.

The core mandate of the ministry is to use religious leaders to change the strange mindset of Imo citizens and Nigeria at large.

Currently, Hon. Okonkwo is working hard for people oriented civilized zoning system for 2027/2028 election in Imo State as peace alternative and healthy option for insecurity prevalent in the state.

He has budgeted a minimum of 700 million naira for this project which is nothing when compared to lives and properties to be saved. He is convinced that “Restorative Justice” remains a way forward because this reconciles both the offender and the victim with the community instead of focusing on punishing the offender.
